The Tuesday Review - Cat Parade

Samantha, owner and artist of the Cat Parade teaches at the Children’s Museum of Art in NYC.  There she often teaches kids how to sculpt tiny creatures out of modelling clay.    Since she was sculpting so much at work, she decided to try sculpting at home with Sculpey.  She started making little animals.  Then one day she started painting underwear on them, which inspired a range of colourful and whimsical characters.

At the time Samantha was painting images of cats, she combined her love for cats with underwear pals which lead to the Cat Parade.  She incorporated her characters into jewelry.   This has allowed her to not only wear her special characters, whom she has grown especially attached to, but the rest of the world gets the chance to wear them too.

Take a look at the Cat Parade by Sam on Etsy! These necklaces would make great whimsical gifts for kids and cat lovers! You can also follow Samantha on Instagram @snsilver8 and Tumblr.
