Part One: Big Girl Room - Transition to a Toddler Room

Lately I have been searching for ideas for Mia’s big girl room.  Although she isn’t trying to climb out of her crib yet, it is only a matter of time before she tries to escape.

My starting point for her room is the furniture we currently have in our spare bedroom.  Back in university my parents bought me the Ikea Malm set; the bed, side table and dresser.  Fast forward 11 years (WOW) and it is sitting in my house.  The bed and furniture is in great shape considering it’s age and the amount of times it has been moved around.  A new mattress is definitely a must though!  The height of the Malm bed is great for a transitioning toddler as it is close to the ground.

Besides the furniture we have some key pieces that I love that I want to include.  A couple of the pieces that are a must from Mia’s nursery are her birth poster, the painting of Booboo and Mia’s Felt Ball Rug.

I also have a couple of other pieces that I have been gathering for this transition.  One is a vintage Hudson Bay Blanket that I have had forever!  The second is an owl painting/print that Mia and I created together and is sold in our online shop.  I am also going to include The Styled Child’s “It’s Cool to Be Kind” print.   Recently I also received two pillows from Redbubble, which Mia loves and I am also going to include.

Here are some great room inspirations!
